Concrete contractors in Elmore County, Idaho

What these Idaho records tell you

These selected businesses have active general contractor registrations in Idaho DOPL records. We matched each record to a business website publishing the same registration number and concrete services. Registration is not a concrete specialty certification, a workmanship rating or proof of permission for your specific project. Confirm current status, required local approvals and the complete job scope before hiring.

Check each business with Idaho DOPL's official registration search. A listing is not a workmanship rating, a verified customer review or confirmation that the business participates in our referral service. We do not independently verify insurance; request current documentation directly.

Census geography

Concrete driveway contractors: compare the actual scope

For Idaho projects, start by asking which listed businesses handle your particular work. Services in these records come from company websites, while registration status comes from the state. Neither establishes current availability. Review Idaho DOPL's current requirements and match the registration number and legal business name to your written contract.

A driveway quote should separate removal and disposal, excavation, base preparation, drainage changes, reinforcement, surface finish and curing protection. Photograph the garage entrance and street connection. Ask who checks levels and access before work starts, and how changes to the scope will be priced.

Concrete patio contractors: check finish experience

For a patio, specify the intended use, dimensions, finish and connection to existing steps or doors. Ask for examples of the finish you want. Landscape pavers, poured concrete and decorative coatings are different services; confirm which is included. Compare patio project questions before accepting a bid.

Confirm who approves work near the road

For the Boise and Meridian area, check the authority responsible for the actual street before changing a driveway entrance. Ada County Highway District lists a driveway-approach request for new roadway connections in its development forms. This does not establish that private flatwork or replacement work is exempt; describe the entire project when asking about approvals.

Meridian's construction guidance distinguishes city building requirements from ACHD roadway responsibilities. Ask who obtains the relevant approval, arranges inspection and keeps the sidewalk usable while work is underway.

Use Boise's permitting and licensing portal for city permit enquiries and record checks. Confirm whether your project also needs highway-district review; a city record is not proof that every road-related approval has been obtained.

These are local starting points, not statewide permit rules. Elsewhere in Idaho, contact the city, county or road authority for the property. Keep written confirmation with the quote.

Give each bidder the same project brief

Measure the existing surface and describe the intended use. Include photographs of cracks, pooling water, changes in level, street access and anything that must remain usable during the work. Ask for demolition, disposal, base preparation, drainage, reinforcement, finish and curing protection to be identified in the written scope. Design requirements should come from the approved plans and project conditions.

Use our concrete calculator once dimensions are established, and our national cost guides for planning context. They are not local bids. Ask what could change the price and who approves changes.

Concrete conditions in Elmore County

Averages from the nearest NOAA climate normals station, Hill City 1 W, ID (21 miles away, 5,100 ft), over 1991–2020.[1] Conditions can change over short distances, especially with elevation, so treat these as a planning guide, not a forecast.

Cold and freeze-thaw

Freeze-thaw is the main risk for outdoor concrete in Elmore County. Concrete that is wet when it freezes, especially where deicers are used, can scale. NRMCA recommends air-entrained concrete, about 6 percent total air with ¾- to 1-inch aggregate, and a specified strength of 4,000 psi for exterior slabs exposed to freezing and deicers. Ask every bidder to write the specified strength and air content into the quote. Freezing lows are not only a midwinter issue here: about 117 of them fall in March–May and September–November, so spring and fall pours need a plan for cold nights too. ACI calls for cold-weather precautions when air temperatures are expected to fall below 40°F during the protection period.[2, 3]

Heat and drying

Hot days are occasional, about 16 a year at 90°F or above. On those days, an early start and prompt curing help, because heat speeds up setting and moisture loss.[4]

Homes in Elmore County

Elmore County has about 12,271 homes. The median home was built in 1988; 52% were built before 1980 and 9% since 2010. 66% are owner-occupied and 70% are single-family detached houses. With so many older homes, a driveway or patio job often starts with an existing slab. Ask whether the quote includes removal, haul-away and repair of the base underneath.[5] This directory lists 1 business based in the county, about 0.8 per 10,000 homes.
