Short answer
Stamped concrete costs about $10 to $14 per square foot for a basic single-pattern, single-color job, $14 to $20 for mid-range work with more colors or patterns, and $20 or more for high-end custom designs. That's less than pavers, which run about $10–$23 per square foot.
| Basic stamped concrete | $10–$14 per sq ft[1] |
|---|---|
| Mid-range | $14–$20 per sq ft[1] |
| High-end | $20+ per sq ft[1] |
| Pavers, for comparison | $10–$23 per sq ft[1] |
| Plain concrete patio | $5–$8 per sq ft[2] |
| Decorative driveway | $8–$21+ per sq ft[3] |
Why stamped concrete costs more
Stamping is a second skilled step on top of a normal pour. The crew colors the concrete (integral color, color hardener or both), presses stamp mats into the surface while it's still workable, adds release agent and accent color, then seals it. More colors, more patterns and borders mean more labor. That's what separates ConcreteNetwork's basic, mid-range and high-end tiers.
Getting a fair stamped-concrete quote
- Ask for photos of the contractor's previous stamped work, and if possible a job you can visit.
- Confirm the pattern, the colors, the coloring method and the sealer in writing.
- Make sure base preparation and control joints are in the scope. Stamping can't hide cracks from a poor base.
- Check the contractor's license and bond on L&I Verify.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a 20×20 stamped concrete patio cost?
+
A 20 × 20 ft patio is 400 sq ft. At $10–$14 per sq ft for a basic stamped finish that's about $4,000–$5,600. Mid-range designs at $14–$20 per sq ft run $5,600–$8,000.
Is stamped concrete cheaper than pavers?
+
Generally, yes. Pavers are placed one by one and take more labor, so they run about $10–$23 per sq ft, while basic stamped concrete starts around $10–$14.
Does stamped concrete need sealing?
+
Yes. Stamped concrete is normally sealed after installation and resealed every few years to protect the color and surface. Ask your contractor what sealer they use and how often they recommend resealing.
